BACK TO HANDRAILS

These hosta leaf garden handrails were commissioned by elderly clients near Leatherhead in Surrey who wanted a little help down their steps, without wanting to feel like they were surrounded by ugly mobility aids. Each handrail was made bespoke to suit the steps it was going on, and the design theme varied throughout the garden with some handrails having one branching leaf, whilst others had two. The tips of the leaves were turned down and pointed away to avoid any clothes snagging, and I forged the stems true to life, as they curl in on themselves. There were half a dozen handrails and a leaf motif grab rail in total.
